THE NOA NOA DIARY and other adventures

From September 6, 2025, to January 25, 2026, the Historical Museum of the Infantry in Rome will host Gauguin, The Diary of Noa Noa and Other Adventures, a poetic journey into the creative heart of the French artist, inspired by his famous diary written in Tahiti.
The exhibition reveals precious treasures: the dramatic monotype drawing Study of Arms, Hands, and Feet, saved from a bonfire ordered by religious authorities, sculptures made in Polynesia, and lithographs from his spiritual testament Avant et Après. At the heart of the exhibition is also his personal notebook, full of sketches, notes, and accounts, an authentic window into his daily life.
There are also references to the Pont-Aven School, with works by Émile Bernard and Maurice Denis, and an evocative portrait of his relationship with Van Gogh through letters and documents that recount their friendship, art, and creative tensions.
