Stay for the Planet

Best Western Premier Hotel Royal Santina joins the Stay For The Planet project, launched by BWH Hotels Italy and Malta in collaboration with LifeGate for responsible hospitality.

Stay for the Planet is a programme recognised by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), the organisation that sets and leads the standards for sustainable development in travel and tourism globally.

The initiative is part of a strategy aimed at reducing the impact of the hotel sector through the promotion of a series of virtuous behaviours and the implementation of a system to monitor and improve the environmental and social performance of the hotels participating in the programme. Stay For The Planet represents an important management and measurement tool to support the hotel chain in its journey towards an increasingly responsible hospitality model.
The programme is based on a sustainability rating drawn up by the LifeGate scientific committee, which, by assigning a score from 1 to 5 expressed in leaves, reflects the hotels' environmental and social performance in the following impact areas:

ENERGY: sources and consumption of electricity and heating, energy efficiency of the building and equipment.

WATER: drinking water consumption (catering, rooms, services...) and water saving.

WASTE: production and type of waste, disposal management and prevention actions.

PURCHASES: procurement of raw materials, service materials and durable goods with a lower environmental impact.

BEHAVIOUR: logistics organisation of suppliers, mobility management of staff and customers, guest awareness and linkage to sustainable initiatives in the area.

PEOPLE: dedicated to the virtuous practices implemented in the hotel with respect to issues of staff development, accessibility and inclusiveness.
